Who are you and what do you do?
My name is Alan Myszkowski and I am the CEO of LOCAL 219, a digital media company located in NWI and focused on covering everything local.
Where are you from?
I grew up in Hammond until 8th grade, moved to Saint John in high school, and went to college at PNW – Westville.
How did you get started?
My first exposure to media was at PNW as the editor-in-chief of the student newspaper.
Do you have a side hustle or hobbies?
Do I? LOL I’m a huge baseball fan, avid music listener, reader, and aggressive in learning new things.
What was one of your biggest mistakes and what did you learn from it?
Getting ahead of myself. As a creative (which I consider myself foremost), I like to think big and reality has a way of grounding you.
What are the top tools you need to do your job?
Coffee, cell phone, laptop and fast internet.
Who or what inspires you and why?
As cliche as it sounds, I’m inspired by people every day, especially artists who seek out honesty in their craft by being themselves and those who are ambitious.
What do you love about Northwest Indiana?
The diversity. North of 30, South of 30 and east of 65 offers three completely different cultures; partner that with being 30 minutes from farmland, city or sand. Amazing.
What advice would you give to someone starting out in your industry?
Keep the community in mind with everything you do, and don’t be afraid to try something new.
What’s next for you?
Well, we’re expanding our coverage locally with niche pages—as well as ingratiating ourselves in different cultures. It’s really starting to get exciting.
Where can we find you?
You can predominantly find us across all social media platforms at LOCAL 219 or email me at firstname.lastname@example.org
